Fresno Unified’s Mentoring Office has partnered with the Left Of Bang Mentor Program to offer a select few inner-city students an opportunity to learn about the basics of filmmaking. If selected, students will attend virtual mentor sessions with Brian Hooks (actor, CEO) and other adults in the film industry.
Through the district’s Mentoring Office, 10 students have already successfully completed Brian Hook’s Left of Bang Mentoring Filmmaking 101 Project. Due to the success of the program, Brian has agreed to open it up to more FUSD students and youth from around California. FUSD students who have already gone through the program will be given priority and will also act as mentors to the new students. The program will start May 3. In addition, selected students will be able to apply what they have learned by helping to produce a new film with Brian.
