College and Career Readiness (CCR) is excited to provide guaranteed elementary grade-level curriculum and experiences for grades 3-6 that support the District’s mission of “Preparing Career Ready Graduates.” The Fresno Unified School District’s Board of Education and Superintendent have continued with their intentional ongoing funding investment to support Goal 3 as “all students will demonstrate the character and competencies for workplace success.” CCR is working with local business partners and community colleges and cultivating new partnerships to make each Goal 3 opportunity an exciting experience for our students.
Bricks 4 Kidz — a company specializing in STEM education utilizing Lego models – is returning for another school year to teach engineering skills to each 3rd grade classroom. Bricks 4 Kidz will visit each site this school year to provide an in-class 60-90 minute learning activity to all 3rd grade students across the District. Cooperative team-based discovery and critical thinking skills are reinforced as students work together to determine career themes of the hands-on activity.
Experiences will be offered that expose our students to the Career Pathways and Programs offered at each region’s high school. The goal is to introduce students to future Career Technical Education opportunities and career possibilities. New industry partners along with many of our previous industry connections have volunteered to support our 4th grade students.
Below is a list of our industry partners working with our 4th graders (Click each link to see a video about each experience):

Hands-on Science Elementary Programs (5th and 6th grade)
Fresno Unified’s partnership with the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Fresno State continues for the hands-on science program for all 5th and 6th grade students. When we first launched the program in 2014/15, 5th graders engaged in hands-on activities, heightening their understanding of science, technology, and engineering. Through Kids Invent!, teachers have interactive lesson plans that encouraged creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation.
For 5th grade, STEM 5 is a complete transition with the program that now aligns to the Next Generation Science Standards. The new lessons will support 5th grade teachers to prepare our students for the CA Science Test (CAST), which aligns to the new science framework.
In 6th Grade, there have been some changes also, even though the foundation of the program still supports science, technology, and engineering.Elementary Curriculum
